I have been working on treatment of this oil painting independently and under Morgan's direction at ACNW.  Treatment steps I have taken to date are: mechanical removal of acidic pulpboard (2) after attaching protective facing (1); stabilization of tears using Japanese tissue on the verso (3); attaching temporary edge lining, stretching, and removing facing; aqueous cleaning to remove surface grime (4); and removal of discolored varnish using organic solvents (5).  Further treatment will include stabilization, relining, and restoration.
